Forgotten Thanksgiving?

Thanksgiving is usually the traditional start of the Christmas season. Do you think Thanksgiving receives enough attention or is it fine the way it is? Does your family usually go Christmas shopping on "Black Friday"? Do you decorate for Christmas over Thanksgiving break? If you don't think we should "rush" Christmas, when do you think the official opening of the Christmas season should be?
